The Dutch authorities have arrested a number of Tamils as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal activities of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) movement in the Netherlands.

The organisation, which seeks to establish an independent Tamil state in northeast Sri Lanka, was placed on the EU list of terrorist organisations in 2006. A spokesperson for the Public Prosecutors' Office has announced that four suspects have been arrested in Breda, Rotterdam, Heemskerk and Heerlen. The arrests come after seven suspects were arrested in April.

The police investigation focuses on attempts to raise funds for the LTTE. The investigation is also intended to show whether the suspects are members of a criminal and terrorist organisation. The police are still looking for people who can provide information on LTTE activities in the Netherlands. (Radio Netherlands Worldwide)

EU listened to us and are helping our country in this way , so our govt also has to listen to them and allow international war crime probe to clear out our name, but will our govt do that?? Never!! because.....

And another thing, how come all these countries are only now realizing the danger of Tamil Tigers in their home turf, after Sri Lanka had virtually vanquished them over here? Weren't they the international mouth pieces of the Tigers a while ago? Shame.

If Dutch authorities are on a search for people who would come forward to provide information on LTTE fund raising activities, they are most likely in for a very big disappointment!

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 03:58 AM

Do not stop them raising funds abroad as long as all those countries take steps to remit all those funds to Srilanka.
Arresting them will not solve the funding. It will be an eyewash.
This is where our diplomats are lacking.

Very soon MIA will release a song about this arrest of "innocent people" and how the Dutch Govt is doing genocide

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:10 AM

Oh, what's the fuss. Didn't the Dutch support and give LTTE, highly sophisticated telecommunication system to monitor the Sri Lankan Arm & its attacks, and also funded the LTTE. Give another ten years, then LTTE will fight for a separate state in Holland. Damn good lesson for them. Keep supporting the terrorist groups, and face the music in the future. Not like Sri Lanka, Holland is big enough to split for few terrorist states.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:27 AM

because of what ?? You LTTE supporter don't use the name SLlion. Better use SLTiger or something else.

    Thursday, 17 June 2010 05:56 AM

What a disgrace, LTTE now begun to lose their friends and the transnational bases. Better late than never.
