The people should not blame the opposition anymore if they vote for the ruling UPFA at the forthcoming local government election, UNP Kurunegala District MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said today

“We have created enough awareness on the difficulties the people will have to face in the future and they cannot deny it,” he said.

The people will have to face many difficulties in the future as inflation will further increase in the coming months, Mr. Kariyawasam said. He added that the suppliers of many essential items have sought permission to increase prices of essential commodities and these items would go up in price after the election.

The recent printing of currency notes including the five thousand rupee note will definitely result in the increase of inflation, the UNP MP said

“The people will have to face a serious situation under these circumstances and they should be prepared to take to the streets,” he added. The UNP MP made this remark by predicting that Sri Lanka might become another Egypt where the rulers of the nation will be force to reign as Egyptian President Mubakarak did few days ago. Look like UNP mp is putting cart before the horse knowing what they are going to get at LG election. His solution to high prices is "Street protest". What an irresponsible & foolish suggestion from main opposition. They have no vision but selfish greed for power..............

It's not UNP's irrection prob anymore. It's the country's irrection problem

    Arj Monday, 14 February 2011 03:02 AM

Hahahaha what ajoke, now voters are to blamed for UNP's irrection problems, hahaha

Government is doing good and the best given the bad situation in the world market. Anyway, how can the LG members change the way the govt is run?

    KD Sunday, 13 February 2011 07:46 PM

Well looks like he has already accepted the defeat and looking for an excuse. Why not try age old "computer Jilmart" theory?

    steve Sunday, 13 February 2011 04:42 PM

Don't think the people are even aware or take them seriously there is a opposition. Quite sure the oppisition wont be blamed for anything. .

Why Akila is the 'back' bone ,that every body knows. ask Sajith

    KHKaru Sunday, 13 February 2011 03:50 PM

No we won't blame the whole opposition, but only your leader because he simply can't attract votes. Ask him to replace his smug smirk with a winsome smile, at least during the election time.

    YP Sunday, 13 February 2011 12:33 PM

    Well said!

    chinthaka Sunday, 13 February 2011 12:35 PM

    daham Sunday, 13 February 2011 10:22 AM

UNP or JVP never submit to the people their intended solutions for the problems for what they blame the government.

That is why people don't listen to them and do not vote for them.

    channa Sunday, 13 February 2011 10:05 AM

    Another Joker....

    nagu Sunday, 13 February 2011 10:03 AM

    DHA Sunday, 13 February 2011 07:41 AM

you'll are simply creating awareness but up to this date no one has given a solution....!!!

    I Hussein Sunday, 13 February 2011 07:31 AM

Well said. Thats very true. Same people then blame the opposition for not doing anything.
People give up easily without a fight like the last general elections. After presidential election people lost hope and 50% didnt even turn up for voting. those are actually were opposition votes. UPFA taking all advantages not because that they are wise but because the people are ignorant & negligent.

    Sisila Sunday, 13 February 2011 07:28 AM

Yes true prices are very high NOT only in Sri Lanka….. whole WORLD. Just give a idea….. In UAE ( Oil rich country) started adding fuel surcharge to Electricity bill from Jan’11? In 2010 3 times increase fuel cost ( Abu Dhabi per ltr Rs. 49.10 Dubai per ltr Rs 51.85) . So tell US how are going bring the price down in Sri Lanka. India not exporting B onions since they don’t even have the supply to meet for countries requirement.

As of now UNP has not given plan or how are they going bring price down??????? None of countries in the world cost of living has come down its increasing day by day….

Kavindra Madawela Sunday, 13 February 2011 07:14 AM

Ive been waiting for such a sensible response from 1 of the opposition mp's nd finally ive gotten it :D the people should b blamed for their actions not the unp.....sad thing is our banana republic are full of monkeyes tht they cannot understand the pros nd cons of voting for the gvernment.....
