Senior DIG Pujith Jayasundera has been transferred back to the Eastern Province which he headed prior to being temporarily transferred to Colombo, the Police Spokesman’s office said.

They said the Senior DIG who was temporarily transferred to Colombo pending an inquiry and was working at the Police Headquarters, had been re-transferred to his original station.

An inquiry was earlier initiated by the police after newspaper reports said Jayasundera had made over a 100 officers of the Kattankudi Police station kneel down for the offence of one Sergeant attached to the police station caught accepting a bribe.

However, Jayasundera denied the reports and said he lectured the police officers and reprimanded them for accepting the bribe, so as to ensure that there would be no corrupt police officers under him. (Hafeel Farisz)
