Is there no one here smart enough to understand that this is not because of the government or anyone here for that matter but because of the EU and USA tryin to play Big Brother and dictate to the world wt to do! We are in this mess because they are messing with the energy market in Asia!
Dont think in such a provincial mentality!
anura Sunday, 12 February 2012 09:58 AM
Too many politicians and their staff , vehciles and goons who are dependent on public money. This systems is not good for a very small country Sri Lanka. we would have been better off with a king like old days not this many blood sukcers in the guise of democracy. we will soon see highst prices(like electricity tarifs, gas, taxes etc) for anything in the world. no wonder its a wonder of asia.
Misunderstood Sunday, 12 February 2012 09:46 AM

Thaha Muzammil Monday, 13 February 2012 06:45 AM
Don't worry. Our Pres will intervene and reduce the cost of fuel, marginally "out of love of love of the people" expecting big media hype.
satha Sunday, 12 February 2012 07:31 AM

kandyboy Sunday, 12 February 2012 03:19 AM
If there is a protest will u join in ? u people will will stay at home instead. If this happens in India everyone will join but not Sri Lankans thats why any government can increase prices of which ever goods or services by any amount they wish.
Parak Sunday, 12 February 2012 03:10 AM
It 's really good move at least to divide the losses equally among all. At least now others know what petrol vehicle owners paid for decades in giving subsidies for the other two types. If you consume you need pay. Do not expect others to pay for you.
Mifras Sunday, 12 February 2012 03:14 AM

This happened because Sri Lanka is no more getting any discounted fuel from Iran. As a member of United Nations ; Sri Lanka have to adhere to the embargoes applied on Iran of their oil exports.

In my town yesterday 'suddenly' fuel was out of stock, until
Police ordered to issue. This morning freely available. These crocs must be first done with coz they are those who create panic, escalate the problem. Coming few days top to toe we wil see a set of new price list at grocery shops.
