A train travelling from Batticaloa to Colombo had suddenly stalled near the railway traffic lights at the Hunupitiya Railway Station after some of compartments had got detached, the Railway Department said.

It said the second compartment had detached itself from the one adjoining and that technicians had been sent to the location to rectify the mishap.

“They will move out the first compartment and attach the other one to the engine,” the Department said.
