Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said today he was awaiting a response from Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga about the allegations made by Cricket Selection Committee Chief Sanath Jayasuriya.

“I have written to the Secretary to conduct a full inquiry into the incident and I’m awaiting the report,” he told Daily Mirror Online.

Former Sri Lanka Cricket captain in an email said that a skit performed by “Puswedilla” was orchestrated to disgrace him and called for an independent inquiry into the skit. ( Hafeel Farisz)

Lots of people did not know his "pus"commentary. He brought it up and more people are enjoying this. In fact more people are watching that incident on you tube.

    Gamini Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:19 PM

People who got irritated are not in a good state of mentality to enjoy the taste of humor........Sorry..Here in Europe we see & enjoy this kind of things almost everyday....Criticising presidents/prime ministers or even the Queen......thats called democracy ...that unfortunately most of our politicians never learn.

    abeyratne Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:25 PM

There was no reason for minister to get involved in this and I think it is a stupid move. He should have asked SJ to learn something from the skit...it was so funny and educational too. Hats off to Sunil Perera! This is the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka where there is no place for satire or creative criticism...and if you cannot stand that don't hold public office. It looks like Minister of Sports think that he is a Dictator and what John wrote above was very correct.

    VoiceOfLanka Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:40 PM

... because he IS a prick and a boastful, pompous idiot as I found out to my shame, when I offered my hand to shake his some years ago in London.

    tony Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:45 PM

DONT GET ANNOYED SANATH. PRETEND NOTHING WAS WRONG. NOW YOU ARE ADMITTING YOUR FAULT. SHAME FOR TRYING TO USE YOUR POWER THIS TIME NOT WITH THE BAT BUT POLITICS

    VoiceOfLanka Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:48 PM

Tolerant to words of praise only. Aluthgamage is far worse . Just watch Balaya on HiruTV. Can't get a word in edge ways. Sick lot!

Just Another Citizen Tuesday, 17 September 2013 01:41 PM

Shows the true caliber of Sanath, just a uneducated fool who thinks he is untouchable. You should have bowed out of the game with some dignity when you had the chance. Take a pointer or two from some of the players from your very own era.

    Nimal Tuesday, 17 September 2013 02:08 PM

    Mahindananda Aluthgamage

You are an another donkey as Sanath. Keep you smelly mouth shut.

Sense of Humour Tuesday, 17 September 2013 02:33 PM

I live in the UK where TV, newspapers, and other media always have satirical humour and NO ONE is exempted! Not the Prime Minister, not even the Queen! Do any of them call for an independent inquiry? Of course not! They just get on with their damn jobs and lives. Sanath needs to grow some thick skin and just move on. Pathetic

    sarath Tuesday, 17 September 2013 02:49 PM

very true.. he has become a real nut for sl cricket these days... and also his team selection are horrible too...

    GC Tuesday, 17 September 2013 03:28 PM

... and perhapslater went on to receive knighthoods and honours?

    Dammika Tuesday, 17 September 2013 03:37 PM

For god sake it was a comedy act ... even though it is not being practiced in Sri Lanka as far as we know FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION is written in the constitution. Sanath you think all people likes as before ... ha ha ha ... you have become a shame for Sri Lankan cricket.

jim pappa Tuesday, 17 September 2013 04:31 PM

The skit, only a few DM readers would have had interest to watch, will now be seen by many, thanks to the free publicity by Sana and the Minister. " Sana edageana nanawa. "

    sach Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:13 PM

they were making fun of Sanath's english and it is Wrong. It doesnt matter who the person is but laughing at one's language is bad.
however sanath is stupid to bring it out

    Sam Tuesday, 17 September 2013 04:52 PM

I think it's very bad. You should not make a joke against any one. Do not forget, Sanath did lot to cricket. So respect him. The Puswedilla going too much now.. Bloody dry jokes.
Any one have the freedom to write, but NO One can make remark on person.

    janaka Tuesday, 17 September 2013 05:16 PM

Example Roshan Mahanama and Dharmasena. They are ture cricketers.

asoka abeywardena Tuesday, 17 September 2013 05:36 PM

from today here our sana becomes pas sana...

    EnEff Tuesday, 17 September 2013 05:42 PM

Was it in English - if so, was it understood properly?

Nadi Karunaratne Wednesday, 18 September 2013 12:42 AM

He may have been an able cricketer but we want people of education to govern us. Be nice also to have politicians less bothered about their ego's and less self-regarding.

Kiris Baba Amaray Wednesday, 18 September 2013 04:19 AM

Take it on a bump Sir... this is totally a petty issue.

    jerry Wednesday, 18 September 2013 05:21 AM

dnt touch Sana , you will lose the votes in Matara

    pxx Wednesday, 18 September 2013 05:45 AM

Great work by Pusswedilla & Sunil.

    dinesh Wednesday, 18 September 2013 06:13 AM

i greatly honored sana as a cricketer but not a selector.
like all other officials in SLC u done nothing as a selector.
players u not choose 4 even to A side(Bhanuka Rajapaksa,Roshen Silva) replied with hundreds.
    all SLC should be resigned
    give SLC to unpolitical management
give the selection committee to Sidath Wettamuni,Brendan Kuruppu,Aravindada Silva like gentelments

Kelani Kolla Wednesday, 18 September 2013 06:24 AM

Even its suposed to be a joke, truth hurts man !!!!!!!!!!!

    sanjeeva Wednesday, 18 September 2013 11:00 AM

a matured person would have ignored the whole incident. but the immature and primitive minded sana has got things mixed up so well.

    thoppiya hari nam daaganna sana

    Malij Thursday, 19 September 2013 11:59 AM

He was once a hero now had become a zero by his own actions. Sad to see his transformation from a simple lovable game kolla to a swollen headed arrogant idiot.

Peace Lover Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:59 AM

Take it in a Sporty way Sana. This is no big issue. Didn't you get disgraced at the Parliament????

    BuffaloaCitizen Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:01 AM

Not only Sanath, even you are also referred in this skit. Both of you have become rubbish and basic "pin padi karayo" to the game of cricket and to sports in general.

    Huna Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:01 AM

    ha ha ha ha

Unhappy Charlie Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:07 AM

There is no need to perform a skit to insult this fellow..He has disgraced himslef and SL cricket over the last few years..He has put us all to shame and now tries to blame others..Why doesn't he look at himself and his actions first....Modayah

    unchikun Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:09 AM

It was comedy. As such if the hat fits put it on.

    unchikun Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:11 AM

Thanks, I have not seen this. Now I will.

    Raj Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:14 AM

Is this about the "puss" that came out?

    unchikun Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:16 AM

    DM, please publish the skit.

Game Kolla Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:29 AM

This was only a comedy act.... must not take seriously...even in UK the Queen and Prime ministers were imitated by well known comedy actors...and these actors were not taken to court for legal action.

Shami Kapoor Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:00 AM

wow free marketing for the skit. need to watch it now! via DM Android App

    KD Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:51 AM

    Fayad Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:51 AM

Skit performed by “Puswedilla” was not true you can take action
But remember in other countries even the prime-minister is taken for task

    Ravi Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:57 AM

we do not need a skit. we all know that they are now wearing skirts.

    Nodrog Tuesday, 17 September 2013 09:58 AM

What to do when even a small prick hurts a guilty conscience!

    Aiyoo Tuesday, 17 September 2013 12:00 AM

It was just a joke!!!!!! Cool down Sana!!! via DM Android App

Suq Madique Tuesday, 17 September 2013 10:00 AM

Can't imagine how they waste time on these trivial matters and ignore the bigger issues affecting the sport.

    PRASANNAJIT Tuesday, 17 September 2013 10:08 AM

Yes, Pusweddilla came out with "puss".

    SADA Tuesday, 17 September 2013 10:10 AM

what is this. We must have the freedom to express

    Anil Tuesday, 17 September 2013 10:26 AM

In the skit somebody imitated Sanath dancing in Bollywood. If he can dance before millions of Indians why cant somebody imitate him ? There are people who imitate Elvis and Michael Jackson. Puswedilla said that we would organise a world cup and doctor the wickets so that the "pus" will come out. Any harm in saying this ?What is this fellow getting worked up for ?

    John Tuesday, 17 September 2013 10:26 AM

SJ, YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO BRING THIS UP IN THE FIRST PLACE - A TYPICAL SATTIRE DIRECTED AT ALL THOSE IN AUTHORITY? OF COURSE IF THE CAP FITS YOU, SO BE IT! CRICKET AND THOSE WHO NURTURED YOUR INTERNATIONAL CAREER MUST BE CRINGING IN SHAME AT YOUR 'NEW POWER' ATTITUDE.

Lak Miniha Tuesday, 17 September 2013 10:41 AM

Come on Sana, this wouldn't have happened if you didn't comment on the "puss" that came out during that match. Take it easy Sana.

Kay Parker Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:09 AM

    Glad Sana understood the skit

    hb Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:16 AM

Even after so much cricket Sanath doesn't have the sportsmanship to accept a minor joke at his expense.

Rata Haraka Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:20 AM

Anye bola. Mung wagey rata harak, mey mang mokekda kiyala hithenawa. Freedom of expression, what!

    Randev Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:24 AM

Where is the freedom to express views in the most decent way when the masses are fuming?! Ideally you 'officials' should be lynched for you incompetence and misadventures!

Shaik Anwar Ahamath Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:28 AM

Not so long ago, Sanath was our hero, praised in every corner of Sri Lanka. Why are we so fickle?

    Perumal Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:36 AM

    Sanathtath mangngang!

    kondebendapucheena Tuesday, 17 September 2013 11:53 AM

take it easy learn how to get these things in proper manner ,you are grown up man
