Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said today that although the war has come to an end, the country cannot be developed with casino owners, shrewd people and murderers around.

The former president made this statement at the Puttalam Municipal council. She said that the war was concluded with the weapons she had bought and added that the government service is now corrupt. “Only casino owners, shrewd people and murderers are appointed for big positions,” she said.

Bandaranayke family contributed much to the down fall of our island nation. It is surprising to see some of the remaining members of the family have the audacity to point finger at others. She may be correct in saying casino owners, shrewd people and murderers are appointed for big positions. But the cult actually originated in her time. Her mother, father too were accused of such unlawful acts.

It is a case of pot calling kettle black.

My late father who was a steadfast UNPer, used to say more than 40 years back, that when people come to realise the deapth of destruction the Bandaranaikes have wrought on this country, it would be too late. I disagreed with him then but now I realise the truth of what he said. But I am not sure whether other people do.
