Is there no such thing as free Nirvana.............?

    Michelle Tuesday, 03 August 2010 11:28 AM

He he... This is classic!!!! A lady "paid" to learn the path to Nibbana!!!! :D Oh boy!!! I love my country!!!

More than the fact that a "buddhist" nun tried to defraud her what bothers me is the fact that we have utterly embarrasingly stupid people in this country!!!!

    MK Monday, 02 August 2010 07:35 AM

Absolutely spot on! If we go to talk about these, we will be accused of defaming Buddhism and will be put to jail. We are not defaming this great religion, its some of the people within that does it.

    Nan Monday, 02 August 2010 06:17 AM

i agree... these extremist monks are a disgrace to buddhism..

    thusi Monday, 02 August 2010 05:46 AM

Stupid People......No body needs to show anyone....If you follow Lord Buddha's teaching you will get there FOR FREE.........

    gamaya Monday, 02 August 2010 05:27 AM

you will get 10% discount, if you're a member of a parliament

mata nikang hithuna Monday, 02 August 2010 04:33 AM

Oh 3.5 million too much. can i get a discount ?

    Citizen Monday, 02 August 2010 04:25 AM

Like everything is in Rupees and Cents, even path to Nirvana is also at a price! First, the Govt. was made secure by buying off the crooks from the other side, now the religious people have taken a cue from that HEAVEN ONLY KNOWS WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THIS COUNTRY!!!

    Rakhitha Monday, 02 August 2010 03:18 AM

May be its high time to impose a tax on Nibbana! Looks like there is good money in it :)

AAn Balan Monday, 02 August 2010 03:14 AM

The incident confirms the famous saying " Only the body is in university the brain is still in Montessori"

    spark Monday, 02 August 2010 03:00 AM

You are absolutely right. Buddhist monks also manipulate politicians and politcians in turn play on their weaknesses. The buddhist public are the silent majoirty thus providing tacit approval for the poor state of buddhism in Sri Lanka.

    azath Monday, 02 August 2010 02:47 AM

This can definitely not be the teaching of Buddha and one of the highlighted case. I feel the respecting a monk should not be on his appearance than on his or her merit.

    Babanis Sunday, 01 August 2010 02:38 PM

Looking for a shortcut to Nibbana.

Podi Guru Sunday, 01 August 2010 01:34 PM

Literate of course does not mean educated.

    desa Sunday, 01 August 2010 06:46 AM

So the cost of findging "path to Nirvana" is approx RS 3.5mn. Hillarious:)

    Jason Sunday, 01 August 2010 12:21 PM

Everything has a price these days...

    Practical Sunday, 01 August 2010 11:59 AM

I have to agree with you on this one!

Calistus Jayatilleke Sunday, 01 August 2010 11:59 AM

In a country which calls itself "Dharmishta" where Buddhist priests ignore Lord Buddha's teachings and crave for Benz Cars to speed up their journey to Nirvana, those who charge money to preach Bana, and those who preach racism against fellow human beings and those who satisfy their greed by hanging on to politics like laymen; a Buddhist nun following their male counterparts to make some money is not a surprise at all.

    Wickrama Sunday, 01 August 2010 11:48 AM

It is the lady who got defrauded that should be punished for UTTER STUPIDITY!!

Muhandiram Imsid Sunday, 01 August 2010 11:40 AM

Proof that there are wealthy people who can be easily fooled

    DeAmO Sunday, 01 August 2010 08:43 AM

Makes me want to question the ''education'' system in the country... Surely, an educated person wouldn't be so foolish!!

    RajasH Sunday, 01 August 2010 08:31 AM

If she is naive the whole country is also naive. The hard line buddhist monks has defrauded this country for years, assasination of one prime minister, by taking lead roles in riots against Tamils since 1958, by opposing constitutional reforms. No one can talk about that.

    Angel Sunday, 01 August 2010 08:23 AM

Path to nirvana (heaven) is not that much of costly. its FREE if you follow it in a proper way.

    aravinda Sunday, 01 August 2010 08:12 AM

The Buddhist nun did the correct thing, "one has to leave all their wealth before attaining nibbna"

    love $$$ Sunday, 01 August 2010 06:55 AM

I'l give you a better price . pay me 1 million and i will show you the path to Nirvana .

local boy Sunday, 01 August 2010 06:54 AM

    lovely lady...why I couldn't find such a wonderful girl ?

    Sammy Sunday, 01 August 2010 06:52 AM

One among many who try to make money out of religion & spirituality.
