Australia beat Sri Lanka by 15 runs in the first match of the Tri-series held in Brisbane a short while ago. The Australians batting first scored 321 runs and Sri Lankans scored 306 runs being bowled out in the 49th over.

The Australian side posted an imposing 321 for six from their 50 overs with opener David Warner in scintillating form with 163 off 157 balls, while Matthew Wade added 64.

Sri Lanka looked in contention at one stage as Kumar Sangakkara scored 42 and UpulTharanga compiled a breezy 60 with NuwanKulasekara adding 73 from just 43 balls, but Sri Lanka fell 15 runs short as they were dismissed with four balls to spare.

The victory gives Australia a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three final after India were sent home.

Weldone to Mahela and his gallant team. Be proud of yourselves and keep going forward in the next 2 matches, today when it was an off day for our top class batsman and fielders we must thank the lower order who stood up. I wish to request the coaching staff, mahela and selectors on tour please speak to Malinga and make him understand that he is playing with a team and not a selfish IPL game. He scored 1 in 6 balls I don't understand why he couldn't take a single when the filed was all spread out and give the screaming PRASAD to face. One could see how Prasad was screeming for strike. Sorry to say Malinga's Batting bowling and fielding all are lost hope he is not saving it for the IPL

Nevermind the end result, it was a very good match. My advise is dont open the bowling attach with Malinga in the next match. Use Malinga as a change bowler. When you hit Malinga for few boundries he loose confident and the batsmen get some courage to hit every bowler there after.Good luck to our boys.

Sri Lanka team has always over confident thats why finally they defeat. Also there is some internal jealous and panic by Dilshan Tilakerathne inside the team is this also one of the main problem in the team. Since im in the team i dont like to name the other guys who mislead SL team.

Superb resilience by our low order batsmen. Top order need to perform exceptionally well if we need to succeed in the next match. Mahela should not open batting and he is more suit for middle order. Nuwan Kulasekara & Thisara Perera are potential openers. Anyway congradz Lions for the 'get rich or die trying' attitude. Keep it up!!!!

Good chase..Good effort... But Sri Lanka gave away too many runs.Should have restricted Australia for around 280 runs. Sri Lanka should have brought on the spinners at the start.. Perhaps opened with a spinner at one end. Malinga's pace bowling sometimes prove too costly when the batsmen starts wild hitting...
