The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) said yesterday it would take decisive steps next week in connection with the Supreme Court upholding the Appeal Court ruling which had directed the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) to register MBBS graduates of SAITM.
GMOA Secretary Haritha Aluthge told a news conference that their counsel were currently studying the facts included in the judgment and that the GMOA’s emergency Central Committee which was scheduled to meet next week would decide on this matter.
“President Maithripala Sirisena said recently the government had solved the ‘SAITM garbage dump’. The government has decided to abolish SAITM owing to many defects of its standards. Even an Act was passed in Parliament securing the future of SAITM students. However, the situation has changed now,” he said.
He said they would further discuss these matters with President Sirisena. (Kalathma Jayawardhane)

A law to prevent trade unions from causing inconvenience to the public should be brought. Such a law exists in more developed nations. Stern action should be taken against them if they strike even after the Supreme Court has given a verdict. Saitm issue is resolved now and there is no two ways about it. The remaining students have got justice but lost 2 years of their lives because of the gmoa and slmc rascals. The gmoa and slmc should be held accountable to this and a sentence should be handed to them!

No discussions necessary. Admit the defeat and shame and just obey the court order and keep your dirty mouth shut. You are a disgrace to all the others in your noble profession.

Who governs the Law in this banana land? Supreme Court gave the verdict against the Medical council but who is now talking? This is what Prof Colvin exactly said Medical council is now hijacked by few people for their Marxist ideology. What can you expect from the Medical council to safeguard innocent patients if it has no authority.

'Decisive action' ? Strike. There is no difference between tiger terrorists and the GMOA. Terrorists kept innocent civilians hostage and GMOA keeps innocent patients hostage. Mr President show some guts do not discuss with GMOA anymore.

So these thugs now don't want to accept the SC ruling. What do these idiots think they are? after studying at the expense of the county's poor citizens they want to rule the county the way they want. I think the public should rise up now and teach these rascals a good lesson which they will never forget.

Please make legislation for medical negligence . in sri lanka . Furthermore prevent Sri lanka from getting exploited by Christian cults , who delude and exploit the elderly and gullable people .
Samson Saturday, 22 September 2018 12:24 PM
You should stop your politics. When the previous govt approved this you were silent and have obstructed the present govt. If you don't like please resign your jobs, you can also strike or criticize the judiciary and go to jail. Select one of these without inconveniencing the public.

They think they are gods, above even the Supreme Court. But did the GMOA question their members who are conniving with criminals to issue medical certificates to keep criminals ensconced in hospital beds? A body that includes connivers, are now above the Supreme Court. Anyone subverting the rule of law should be sent to prison, and not to prison hospital beds either.
