Ranjan arrives at SC on contempt charges

Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, who was issued notice to appear before the Supreme Court over a contempt of court case, arrived at the Supreme Court this morning.

The Deputy Minister is alleged to have made remarks in contempt of court after he said that certain members in the legal profession were corrupt.

    SC has to investigate and find out whether there is any merit in the statement made by the deputy minister before charging him for contempt of court.A true democracy can be built only on unbiased judiciary.

    JVP 71, 88 and LTTE how many youths killed by Sr Lankan government.What was the reason? Injustice everywhere.What this lawyers are doing ? Postpone cases and take their charges without a receipt. Even bus conductors are giving a ticket. In 2018 Budget , compulsory requirement to provide a receipt by lawyers for every transaction.

    One has to agree that the majority of lawyers in this country are corrupt. The second highest percentage of Parliamentarians after the lot who have not even passed the Ordinary level exams are non practicing Lawyers.
