Former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka yesterday challenged the government to complete the projects which were initiated by him as the Megapolis Minister.
Mr. Ranawaka speaking at his election campaign launch said he cannot be defeated through political or judicial exercises.
“I am aware that funds are being spent to destroy me politically. I would like to remind my opponents that I can only be defeated if the projects which I initiated during my tenure as a minister are completed. I can be defeated only if the present rulers could complete the light rail project in 2023,” he said while highlighting that the project which was under the purview of his Megapolis ministry was to be competed in 2024 as per plans made by the previous regime.
He added that the Samagai Jana Balawegaya (SJB) if elected to office will go ahead with the light rail project as planned.
“ I hope that the future government will continue with establishing the technology zone in Homagama without being selfish. The objective of this project is to turn Homagama into another Silicon Valley or another Bangalore,” he said. (Yohan Perera)
