Over ten people and cops injured during H’tota protest

More than ten people including several police personnel were Hospitalised following the tense situation prevailed during the opening ceremony of the Southern Industrial Zone today, Hospital sources said.

Meanwhile, police sources revealed that several people have been taken into custody with regard to the incident.

A tense situation prevailed this morning when protestors pelted stones at the people gathered for the opening ceremony and police fired tear gas and water cannon to disperse the protestors. (Sanath Gamage)
