The government of Malaysia has expressed regret over the incident involving the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia, Ibrahim Ansar, and a group of protesters on at the KL International Airport on Sunday.
It noted in a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry from Wisma Putra today that the incident caused minor injuries to the high commissioner.
“The Government of Malaysia expresses its sympathies to His Excellency Ibrahim Ansar and gives the assurance that the Malaysian authorities will investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry would continue to work closely with the Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur to ensure that similar incidents will not occur in the future, it added. (Bernama)
