Countrywide liquor sales will be banned for three days on Monday, August 3rd for the Nikini Full Moon Poya Day, and on Wednesday, August 5th and Thursday, August 6th for the General Elections, by order of the Excise Department.
Excise Commissioner General Ariyadasa Bodaragama has ordered all bars, wine stores, taverns, restaurants and other places to refrain from selling alcoholic beverages during the said period.
Departmental Spokesman Deputy Director Kapila Kumarasinghe told the Daily Mirror, strict action will be taken against those who violate these orders. (Kurulu Koojana Kariyakarawana)
