Drunken driver claims he was an ex-LTTEer, threatens police

A drunken driver who had turned violent and abusive was injured when he was allegedly beaten by the Kilinochchi Police Traffic Branch OIC with a chain. The man is reported to have come to the Kilinochchi hospital claiming to have met with an accident had threatened the police officers on duty saying he was a former LTTE cadre and not scared of the police.


The suspect was arrested and admitted to the Kililnochchi Hospital by the police. He was later transferred to the Jaffna General Hospital.  (Situm Chaturanga)

    The policemen needs to be taken to task. He cannot use a Chain to hit the drunkard. The policemen should use minimum force to apprehend unruly behavior and let the law do the punishment instead of the uncivilized thing he is doing with his authority and uniform.
