Church services are likely to begin from Sunday with the government deciding to allow religious observances at places of worship with the congregation limited to 50.
Fr. Jude Chrishantha, the head of the Social Relations Unit of Colombo Archdiocese told Daily Mirror that priests were free to begin Sunday services Sunday in keeping with the health guidelines stipulated by the health authorities.
"It has also been decided to make weekday services valid for Sunday worship so that an increased number of devotees could attend masses. Therefore if a person attends a service on a weekday he or she does not have to attend Sunday services," Fr Chrishantha said.
Meanwhile, religious services are likely to begin at some of the Anglican churches as well. (Yohan Perera)

Is this practical ? Are tickets to be issued to the congregation on a first come basis .It would be so difficult to decide on criteria for the selection of 50 from a parish community ..

This is stupid. The person who spread covid in south korea is the one who went to church. We don't need to open place of worships as fast like this

Most of the churches are empty and looks haunted before the covid scene. Specifically this vey community won't have a issue on 50 people for a mass. This community should be closely watched to see they patronise night clubs .in the middle of the night Lol

If Corona cases increase then Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has to take full responsibility for asking the President to allow church services.
