A considerable number of MPs are reported to have gone abroad to spend their Christmas holidays.

The United National Party (UNP) working committee meeting which was to be held on Thursday had to be postponed because most of its MPs were abroad.

“Most of them have gone abroad for the holidays,” a newly-appointed State minister said and added that even several Opposition MPs were abroad. (Yohan Perera)

This is absolutely unacceptable and should be stopped immediately. We are paying these idiots to have tamashas when they are supposed to set an example to the nation. Some others are lamenting for not getting the Ministerial posts to enjoy these perks. They increase their own salaries at the drop of a hat! How can this go on?

Have our politicos declared their assets? Is the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue who should look into these matters too have gone on a permanent holiday during the past years?
