At least 67 people from the Ratnapura and Pelmadulla areas have been sent to the Diyatalawa Quarantine Centre.
Accordingly, several families at Mudduwa in Ratnapura and six families in the Pelmadulla area have been sent for quarantine after two others who are family members of the gem businessman of Ratnapura were found positive for COVID-19.
Sabaragamuwa Provincial Director of Health Services Dr Kapila Kannangara said several relatives of the Ratnapura gem businessman and employees of a gem mine belonged to him and their families are among those sent for quarantine. (Lasantha Niroshana)
