This unfortunate accident has nothing to do with religion. Rules and laws are promulgated, but the average Sri Lankan of any religious group seems to think it does not apply to them: tinted windscreens, noise pollution caused by vehicle horns, cessation of musical shows, texting and talking on mobile phones while driving, using zebra crossings, etc. ad nauseam.

if the victim is 3 year old we cannot blame the driver at the first instance unless he had over driven the child who was on the pavement of the road. if the child was crossing the road the parents shall be dealt with for allowing the child to cross the road unattended. the child is any case a victim of the carelessness of either the driver or the parent. in any case parents are liable for not taking attention of their children. PEOPLE SHALL NOT AGITATED JUST BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OWNED BY A POLITICIAN.

I think some of you do not know the meaning of "scapegoat." If the driver is punished when indeed it was the minister who was at fault, then the driver is the scapegoat. Or perhaps you indeed want the driver to be punished and let the minister off?

later inquiries will find that the kid ran over himself.
feel sorry for the child.
Gamini Thursday, 26 September 2013 05:49 AM
Minister should resign, no, I mean the driver should resign for bringing shame to the minister.
Sam Thursday, 26 September 2013 04:27 AM
Only Speed control for public, not for Ministers.
Fawzan Wednesday, 25 September 2013 05:48 PM
Who drove the vehicle? I hope driver is a scape goat.

We must be the only country in the world where 'official' drivers are involved on a daily basis in unchecked road indiscipline, causing injury/death to other road users apart from the seemingly arrogance and impunity and no prosecution?!
shitake mushrooms Thursday, 26 September 2013 03:05 AM
Don't you mean you hope the driver is NOT the scapegoat?
Ravi Thursday, 26 September 2013 02:50 AM
When are you going to release the driver ?
Lal.Fernando Thursday, 26 September 2013 02:48 AM
It is not the driver who should be arrested but the Minister. If this minister was inside the vehicle at the time of this unfortunate incident. the Minister should have told the driver to drive carefully and responsibly.
Nodrog Thursday, 26 September 2013 02:32 AM
Why does a minister for indigenous medicine need armed escorts or have to speed on the roads?
KaluSudhaSudha Thursday, 26 September 2013 02:11 AM
Idiot driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As It Is Thursday, 26 September 2013 12:00 AM
Arrested, only to be released after a cash transaction/threat to the family to say that the child ran out on his/her own causing the accident. AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY THEREAFTER. via DM Android App
