149 arrested for drunk driving

A total of 149 people had been arrested across the country for driving under the influence of liquor (DUI) during the past 24 hours, the Police said.
The arrests were made between 6 a.m. yesterday (14) to 6 a.m. today.

The Police said among the arrested, 76 were drunken motorcyclists and 61 were three-wheeler drivers.

“Eight hundred and seventy seven (877) road accidents including eight bus accidents, 473 motorcycle accidents, 308 three-wheeler accidents and 88 other road accidents had been reported from Thursday (10) to 6.00 a.m. this morning,” a Police spokesman said.
