Something is wrong. We are always told that our literacy level, our longevity, our medical facilities and our per capita income are all better than those of any other country in SAARC. How come the happiness level is the lowest ?

This is not surprising. We are in the group of countries which were our most close and friendliest during the previous regime. According to people like Wimal and Udaya 5.8 million people who voted for MR are very unhappy. The fall of the previous government would have contributed to us rising five positions above last year.

Bull Shit. Not really reflecting the happiness. Its not easy measure. If bunch of idiots made a survey only 1% of population wont give any good results.

corruption and crooked application of law make very few people happy and rich, these include politicians and high ranking professionals who received their education free of charge from the sad masses

Interesting, all the friends of the west, and the places where the Nato has demolished to the ground are the happiest, it makes even the old Chinese who tied their hair laugh. (commenting from UK)

Abdul Friday, 24 April 2015 12:14 PM
this is true. almost everyone in sri lanka talk about politics to get some entertainment. i think they do this because they dont know what true entertainment means. other nations got so many activities to do for their entertainment.
Bala Friday, 24 April 2015 12:06 PM
More idiosyncracies - Libya 63 Nigeria 78 Sudan 118. Must be really happy to live there if we SL is 132 - hope those who did the survey will go there to live.
Happy Lankan Friday, 24 April 2015 12:05 PM
The Western measuring stick is somewhat materialistic. Despite our stupid attitudes we Sri Lankans are among the happiest in the world. Unfortunately we do not know that we are among the happiest.
