This means at least 89000 married men were killed in the conflict. So if we add unmarried men, women and children, how much the numbers will be???

One of the lesson that we could learn is 89000 widows, result of crulty a war that was dragged over 03 decades. How many children have lost both farther & mother?. How many husbands lost wives?. How many families lost?. However that does not mean all were LTTE , majority of the victims are innocent civilians. This is a very serious national issue and as stated initial steps have already been taken to addressed the issue is highly appreciated. They need either gainful self employment or any other source of living, mainly for the children to overcome the hardships presently being experiecned.

something interesting in the maths here: the last estimates of casualty figures (excluding the "zero civilian casualties" during the last 18 months of war if Mahinda is to be believed) are about 70,000 deaths - of whom are about 20,000 Sinhalese from outside the north and east, and about 50,000 are people from the north-east. many of these are women, children and unmarried youth (most LTTE cadres were unmarried when they died). leads to the conclusion that the total number of casualties must have been excessively higher than the official number.

This is the only statement published by this puppet minister after taking oath as a deputy for last sixmonth. doing nothing related to his portfolio.but he is always sitting in. his home town and planting date trees in the middle of main road and he calims 100000 rupees for each. he says he has planted 103.this is utter waste of public funds. Is he a minister for the country or for his home town. does.he want to make his home town as a part of middle east. real stupit idea not suit to this country.

Make the best out of the situation. Let the tamil widows to marry sinhalese men, let them integrate, let them come to know each other, share their hapiness and their grievences. Let both come to know the north and the south. This is already happening in Bosnia amoung the Bosnians and Serbs and the results are very promissng.

Interracial marriage is an excellent idea, this will prevent people from pointing finger at the other! At least the younger generation hopefully will comply with this!

Heres an opportunity to foster peace and harmony between the two ethnic groups. Set up an agency to introduce each other. Those widows finding partners from other ethnic backgrounds will establish the foundations for a long and enduring peace and friendship.
