The Navy yesterday took into custody 14 Indian fishermen and their three trawlers while allegedly poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Delft’s Island in Jaffna, Navy Spokesman Kosala Warnakulasuriya said today.
He said the fishermen and the trawlers were handed over to the fisheries officials at Karainagar in Jaffna.
Meanwhile Indian media reported that the fishermen were from Rameswaram and Jagadapattinam in the Pudukottai District in Tamil Nadu.
