Investigations have revealed that the two Ministerial Security Division (MSD) officers who accompanied Malaka Silva, were not involved in the alleged assault of the foreign couple at a night club in Colombo, the Police said.
Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said according to the CCTV footage, the two officers were outside the night club during the initial stage of the incident.
“We are still investigating the incident and checking the CCTV footage and we will take action against the two officers if they were found to have been directly involved in what happened,” he said.
He said five other people had accompanied Malaka and the video footage shows they were inside the night club with him.
“These five have been identified and will be arrested,” he said. (Lahiru Pothmulla and Sanath Desmond)
