Face Book is a good thing, as long as we know our limitations and what it needs to be used for. As far as for the younger generation, they misuse it at all times, even at times to black mail. So what is suggest is that parents at home and teachers in school should have an awareness program on the pros and cons of Face book. That would create a much better and safer environment for our kids. Social media is a good thing, but with all the crazy people we have to deal with today, awareness programs is always a good tool.

Information addict Thursday, 06 February 2014 10:20 AM

This is probably the most retarded thing I've read all day.

I guess you must be one of those well-educated types.

Sometimes fools get appointed as Principals.
Someone else can publish her photo and she got the punishment !

    desilva Thursday, 06 February 2014 09:59 AM

What will happen if you give the blade to monky?. However the principal should be blamed. He behaved like the person who put this photos to FB.

    lkboy Thursday, 06 February 2014 06:20 AM

    The principle's fault.

    Perera Thursday, 06 February 2014 08:56 AM

Cannot blame the FB or technology.

We should use these for good purpose and not for bad doing.

Principal is correct, but should be more tactful when handling children like such as now a days children are much more different than our days (20years ago).

I suggest education ministry to educate children usage of FB or Skype or any other communication equipment better way and take strict action who ever misuse before take action one-sided.

God Bless and rest in pace, but I am very sad of this.

Also parents too should be more careful of their children when operating such communication equipments and be vigilant.

We as parents must do more than our parents done and be friendly with your child and do not jump at once for many mistake or doing worng things. Just talk like friends and make their mind to understand.

Why don't you ban Mobile phones, telephones, mixed schools etc?

Gas Labu Thursday, 06 February 2014 08:03 AM

Time for the SL govt to ban FB And other social media evils. The do no good at all.

    Ruwan Thursday, 06 February 2014 08:00 AM

Why don't you give up the internet as well?

Lanka Shantha Thursday, 06 February 2014 07:58 AM

Why the school interfere in the personal life of the student. They had no right to go in to the student's personal FB account as it is personal and if the student had asked them to join only it is ok to ask.

    AbilashanMwg Thursday, 06 February 2014 07:58 AM

    WHY ALWAYS FACEBOOK?????

Rohan Wickremsinghe Thursday, 06 February 2014 07:36 AM

First of all Facebook Company must have a legal representative office in Sri Lanka so that principals and teachers can coordinate with it when it comes to matters of our children. Otherwise the accountability of Facebook cannot be established in Sri Lanka. Not only Facebook all other USA Internet giants should do so.

Dilshan Fernando Thursday, 06 February 2014 06:23 AM

Facebook waste lives, relationships, money, and precious time. There are many ways to keep in touch with friends and relations rather than keeping in touch with them online.

I already gave up Facebook long time back.

George Cloney Thursday, 06 February 2014 06:22 AM

FB is not suited to villages in SL.
