A foreigner is allowed 1 carton of cigarettes duty free, The 12 could of been from that carton that she had brought in, or a relative who gave her. She is dumb to have not told the police that she has the right to have the 12 cigarettes that she had brought from the duty free while she entered the country.

    sourcetrue Wednesday, 02 January 2013 04:53 PM

that girl did not have her passport with her, only an id card of maldives...thats the reason they took her and searched her hand bag, and the cigarretes were for her own consumption , if the law is like that then they should confiscate all cigarettes from the airport itself....the media does not get the true facts just blabs nonsense

    CID Wednesday, 02 January 2013 04:58 PM

What nonsense is this. Why don't the police fine those big wigs who imported racing cars without paying due taxes? Back boneless corrupt police we have.

    Christiopher Wednesday, 02 January 2013 03:04 AM

What is wrong in a persong having 12 cigarettes in his/her possession. Can one sell this and earn a million ruppee. What stupid law is this and this shows how impractical the laws of this country is. A person comming from abroad should be allowed a cartoon of cigarettes from the duty free for his/her consumption and to distribute to friends. What is wrong in this and what is the country loosing compared to the billions played out by top officials who get down anything they want Duty Free.

    Kirala Wednesday, 02 January 2013 03:14 AM

    Nan Wednesday, 02 January 2013 04:05 AM
