Send in proposals for Budget-2019 before Feb. 11: Ministry

The Ministry of Finance and Mass Media has called all stakeholders including the general public, to make their proposals for the Budget 2019 before February 11 to “ensure introduction of a successful budget targeting building a strong Economy and an Enriched country.”

The Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera will present the Budget 2018 in the Parliament on March 05

The media release said:

“The Finance Ministry expects to mould the public policies in accordance with the aspirations of the community under the theme of democracy, reconciliations and development, which are the main three pillars of this Government. This will be a performance-based budget and necessary allocation for projects will be made available on the basis of the action plan prepared and submitted by the respective ministries.

“Accordingly, professionals, scholars, the general public and those who are engaged in the sectors of Manufacturing, services and the agriculture are requested to send in their proposals for the budget – 2019 before February 11 to reach the following address.”

If I tell to stop Duty Free Vehicles - will u stop it? No.If I tell close down Sri Lanka which makes a loss of 1.3m per day that could be utilized for health or education or even to house the beggars on the road - will u do that? Absolutely NO.

If you are publishing the press release verbatim and asking for proposals, it would make sense to publish the address as well, so people can take action, without just making inane comments here, that no one will take action on. So dear article writer, please publish the address!

1/.Pension/living wage for private sector workers whom completed 25 years contribution to EPF 2/.Motivation needs to foreign income earners whom earn foreign currency - Needs to give duty free vehicle upon their income 3/.Needs to charge for schools and hospitals for high income families 4/.Needs to give living wage to disable people 5/.Needs to give living wage for widows with no income and their children until they reached 18 years 6/.Stop import of three wheelers and only people above the age of 50 can operate passenger transport three wheelers 7/.Stop sending house maids to Saudi whom are mothers 8/.Needs to band and use plastic and polyethene9/.Needs to stop using pesticide and chemicals in agriculture 10/.No job guarantee for graduates from government and some cost of education should cover by the students after they start employment ( cost sharing tax )11/.Band of importing fish and vegetables and related foods 12/.Needs alcohol available with open market
