The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) warned stern trade union action tomorrow onwards if Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne appoints Prof. Colvin Gunaratne as the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) Chairman violating the Medical Ordinance.
GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge told the Daily Mirror that the GMOA would resort to an indefinite strike without prior notice if the minister assigns the Prof. Gunaratne without considering GMOA recommendations.

GMOA must state why Prof. Colvin Gunaratne is unsuitable without holding the health service to ramson. Enough is enough, some strong measures must be taken against this terrorist outfit.

Why can't we take stern action against GMOA for going on strike and depriving us of our FR of getting free treatment at Government Hospitals?

Prof Colvin is a wrong headed man. He is fully supporting SAITM. This is a biggest victory for SAITM. Government knows Prof Colvin is SAITM supporter.

Dear President My3, Declare the Medical services as "Essential Services" as did by Mr. Philix Dias Bandaranayake and say "they will lose the jobs" if they do not come to work. This is the only way out.
