Sad about death, this type of daily basis accidents will continue till there are four lane tracks to Kandy .people who are driving on the road knows how difficult to drive through Kandy -Colombo road.people spend about 6hrs on the road to drive merely 120km.

When monkeys are given a driving license this is bound to happen. When monkeys are doused with a uniform and labelled "Policemen", such incidents are out of control.

Can we have another protest organized by the JO against the proposed traffic fine increase please?

    Arun Monday, 23 January 2017 11:09 AM

Reckless driving is the main cause for such accidents !Kandy - Colombo road is too busy now, need a alternative road very soon

    Dellon Monday, 23 January 2017 11:23 AM

Increase traffic fine to rs 50000

I have seen Police stopping cars, SUVs, Vans all the time. How many of you have seen a Bus or a container stopped by Police? These are the results...

It is a national disgrace. Why is human life so cheap and expendable in Sri Lanka? For a country that has lost so many lives to a long drawn out war and two insurgencies, when are we going to say 'Enough is enough!' and take some decisive action? The most valuable asset a country has is its human resource. If Sri Lanka is serious about becoming a developed country rather than for ever remaining a 'Developing Country' it needs to start by protecting and developing its human resource.

Very well said. Long distance travel should have proper safety features and wider roads with many lanes each way. The left most lane should be given for busses and trucks and the right most lanes for speeding vehicles. At present it is very risky to drive long distance in Sri Lanka.

Moore effort should be made to transport containers by rail and get the container trucks off the roads. We have a good rail network, so why not make use of it to the maximum to have containers transported by rail???

Hi It's sad story But there is no point in pointing towards to politician , bcos their minds are not that wider to think about How much value human value , so roads will be same tiny Until we find educated people in power

Politics do not allow. One proposes and one disposes. This is Sri Lanka politicos

When will the government implement the increase of fines for traffic violations? Are they waiting till an accident happens to a minister? It is not the fault of the road but it is the negligence of the drivers that cause these accidents.
