The decision on whether or not to appoint Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka as a member of parliament will taken today by the United National Party's working committee.

Party sources said the working committee would meet the party leader -- Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe -- at Sirikotha this afternoon.

It was reported that Field Marshal Fonseka was among those who were proposed to fill the vacancy created by the recent demise of Minister M. K. A. D. S Gunawardene. Field Marshal Fonseka signed an MoU with the UNP led United National Front (UNF) last week.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General Parliament, Dammika Dassanayake told Daily Mirror that no swearing in had been arranged yet for this week in parliament. Parliament will meet on Tuesday February 9, 2016. He said the House had not received a gazette notification from the Commissioner of Elections in order to make preparations to swear in a new MP.(Yohan Perera)

SF should be appointed to the parliament and to be given responsible position to him relevant to countries defense, as a country we must use his talent to the benefits of our country, specially develop the discipline of the police department, road traffic rules, etc. we can not expect bright country with out using such people to the development of the country.

During the.general elections. The Democratic party did not ask people to vote for SF. The massage was to keep the Rajapakse group out of power. To do that the UNP had to be voted into power. That is why SF did not get elected.. In a normal election with out the threat of a dictatorship, he would.have won.a.sear from Colombo.

Surely SF should be taken in to parliament and offered a portfolio. He is an honest, upright and straight forward person who can stand up to Rajapakske gangsters. On the top of all he is the one who crushed LTTE and brought peace to the country . I which him all the best
