Dengue cases rise to 44,480 with 28 deaths reported this year

Colombo, June 19 (Daily Mirror) - Health authorities have recorded 44,480 dengue cases across Sri Lanka so far this year, with 28 deaths reported due to the disease.

Consultant Community Physician Dr. Preshila Samaraweera said the highest number of dengue infections has been reported from the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Matara, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle, Kandy, Hambantota, Kegalle, and Kurunegala.

She urged the public to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, as dengue continues to spread in several areas.

Dr. Samaraweera also stressed the importance of seeking early medical attention when symptoms of dengue appear, to reduce the risk of complications.
