Police curfew will be imposed in several police divisions in the Western Province with effect from 9 pm tonight until further notice, police said.
Accordingly, curfew will be imposed in the Negombo, Kelaniya, Nugegoda, Mount Lavinia, Colombo North, Colombo South and Colombo Central police divisions.
Police said the law will be strictly enforced on those violating the police curfew.
Traveling through the areas where police curfew is in effect is completely prohibited and police have advised to use other alternative routes.

Suppressing our right to protest isn't advisable when we are looking to the international community for help, why would they send any money with dictators in power

Why don't the police take strict action against these rascals who violate the democracy, instead of joining hands with these dictators.
India Will Not Allow Riots in Sri Lanka Friday, 08 July 2022 09:08 PM
Name a single country in West Europe or North America where the government sat idly by and permitted demonstrations and occupations on a daily basis with the loud and clear intention to bring the down the government. I am not supporting the corrupt Rajapaksas nor their protector called Ranil, but the sad reality is if the intensity of the demonstrations reach critical mass then Gotta will be expected by India, to use the Police and the Military and crush the agitations comprehensively within 24 hours.

Shameless IGP Coward Friday, 08 July 2022 09:21 PM
Look at our IGP WHO said "no obstacles for Peaceful protests " yesterday ....today imposed a curfew to sabotage the Peaceful protests. IGP why you give two contradictory statements within 24 hours. Shame and before your President step down you must do so immediately and honourably as a gentleman.

What exactly is the Police curfew? Who is trying to fool here? Gota got to go!
D S de Silva Friday, 08 July 2022 09:50 PM
There is no such law, there is no emergency or threats to normal life, except peaceful non violent protests. Hence curfew is invalid and illegal. There is a court order that peaceful demonstrations are allowed and the police cannot impose a police curfew. This is only a gimmick to mislead and create fear and doubt in people.
TONI Friday, 08 July 2022 10:13 PM
WE HAVE A MAD POLICE DIVISION JUST LIKE THE MAD LEADER. THE PROTESTORS WILL BREAK THE CURFEW. FIRST THEY TRIED TO GET A COURT ORDER TO STOP THE PROTEST, AND NOW A CURFEW. IF THE COURT SEE IT FIT TO ALLOW PROTESTS, WHY THE HELL IS THE POLICE CONCERNED AND TRYING TO PREVENT. HAS GOTA GONE INTO HIDING ALREADY?
TONY Friday, 08 July 2022 10:16 PM

Hapun Friday, 08 July 2022 10:17 PM
There is nothing called a police curfew. We have idiots in the police. That is why the country has gone to the dogs with a bloody dog at the helm.
