Appoint a committee to probe illegal deal by the health minister .

Mahendra Fernando Monday, 17 July 2023 12:42 PM

Even if that girl had allergies and it was the cause of death, shouldn't the doctors have found out about her allergies before treating her? Negligence is a Sri Lankan medical trait.

The most important issue this committee will find but still not mention is, that a crooked Minister like you who has never done anything useful to the country right throughout your Political life needs to be kicked out. This is a fact.

    sam Monday, 17 July 2023 12:50 PM

Depends on who is in the committee

Marcian Chrisopher Monday, 17 July 2023 01:07 PM

Will the findings of the Committee be made public or will it be pushed into the dustbin like the the other reports and never see the light of day? Your guess is good as mine.

    Jay Monday, 17 July 2023 01:24 PM

Chandima Jeewandara is not a physician and has no experience in treating pateints other than allergies

    Sutha Monday, 17 July 2023 01:44 PM

Committee must have a TOR with some senior experience experts in the field. Why can't he get someone from Ruhunu and Jaffna university?. The issue must not be covered up to suit the minister and the high official of the ministry.

    Bandu Monday, 17 July 2023 02:29 PM

Usual tactic appoint committee who will sit 6 months till people forget the whole issue.

Karalasingam Sivalingam Monday, 17 July 2023 02:37 PM

It's good to investigate, it's reflected failure of administration, several committees were appointed in the past by succeeding governments, but the reports of the Committees were neither published nor recommendations were implemented. Trust this Committee's recommendations would be implemented and punitive action taken against the medical staff responsible for death of the 21 year old girl at Peradeniya hospital.

For every disaster they use to appoint committees but no results. This is just a time pass. we have only gods help.

    Das Monday, 17 July 2023 04:18 PM

When ever an issue committees are formed, what action or remedies these committees have done , only wasting of money

    Ranjan Monday, 17 July 2023 04:46 PM

Mr Minister you get out of the ministry without appointing committees and you are the problem. You are not at all capable of running the health sector

Why is President Ranil , Disgracefully Keeping Quiet Monday, 17 July 2023 04:56 PM

These Indian Medicines are not really Indian. All are safe European Medicines used commonly in Europe. The danger comes when Indians copy these medicines in India and sell them as Indian Medicines to unsuspecting third world countries. When used in Europe these medicines are not killing patients , this shows the problem is with Indian “copycat” production. So stop buying Indian Medicines immediately and permanently.

Retirement ages for the committee memebers will be increased if the give result that favours government Monday, 17 July 2023 05:10 PM

The whole committee are catchers for the government. If they fail to give outcome that government wants they will lose their jobs, or they will sent to early retirement. Unless there are external people who are not Sri Lankan, there will inevitable there will be corruption happening.

Sam Silva Monday, 17 July 2023 05:25 PM

For everything we need a fake committee because our leader is so incompetent. Sad situation in our country.

How can the guilty investigate himself without bias?

Tissa Fernando Monday, 17 July 2023 06:42 PM

Fire the Minister first and appoint someone capable and honest.

    Sambo Monday, 17 July 2023 07:04 PM

Committees, Committees, Committees, no end of Committees, and no out come of these Committees,

Commis Kaka Monday, 17 July 2023 08:03 PM

How can people have confidence in a Committee appointed by this man who people are accusing of various irregularities ?

    DJ Monday, 17 July 2023 11:02 PM

What a joke and waste of money. Nothing will come out of it.

Dr. D.J.A. Upul Jayasooriya Tuesday, 18 July 2023 08:15 AM

Mr. Rambukwella, no use appointing committees if you don't have any knowledge on the subject. Please tender your resignation.

    L. Keerthisinghe - Snr. Health Ministry Staff Tuesday, 18 July 2023 08:19 AM

If the Health Minister is going to be in the post, for sure 50-60% of the population will die using inferior cheap quality drugs... It is very strange still he is holding this seat - may be to earn some more commission on drugs.

Dr. Hendry Jayatillake Tuesday, 18 July 2023 08:22 AM

You are appointing the seven-member committee to investigate, but who is going to investigate you taking commission from the drug dealers in India?

    A.T.R. Fernandopulle (Attorney-at-Law) Tuesday, 18 July 2023 08:26 AM

If you get out Mr. Minister, everything will work well, no use spending more money on these seven experts because you have already earned your commission..

gama rala Tuesday, 18 July 2023 08:59 AM

I am sure they will find fault with the doctors and call it medical negligence, if not it will be the patient's fault.

Lokubanda Tillakaratne Tuesday, 18 July 2023 09:07 AM

First, if this happened in another country, the Minister and other senior officials in charge of the had already resigned to avoid any conflict of interests and potential for being responsible. Secondly, this committee albeit its brilliant expertise, must have a deadline to finish at least a preliminary round of recommendations. Thirdly, if it is not, this committee will end up like hundreds of committees that turned out to be blown up baloons we have seen in the past.

    Ayotallah Tuesday, 18 July 2023 10:51 AM

What is necessary now is to probe all the purchases of medical drugs into the country by Department health or any other means and examine the purchase details such as private or government and tender prices and who are others involved

    Mahila Tuesday, 18 July 2023 10:59 AM

This initiative of Inquiry, must be Independent!? Therefore should NOT BE UNDER THE AEGIS of HEALTH MINISTRY (SECRETARY OF MINISTRY AND CAO) and must be by PM's or Presidents OFFICE!? Better, if the members of the committee are drawn from outside SL Medics - EU/SAARC (exclude India) as it is believed country may be India!!!??? NO Sri Lankans to ensure Enquiry "appears", in addition to being Professional and Independent!? JURISPRUDENCE – negate SUSPICION!!!?? If not, this would be like the “IIGPT” appointed end of 30 year WAR by MaRa!!!??? PUSWEDILLA! NO EFFECT ABSOLUTELY!!?? Or is this manoeuvre par excellence on cover-up is undercover move of the ‘MANOEUVRER PAR EXCELLENCE and WITHOUT COMPARE’, Born, Bred and nurtured in the Shadows of the Devi Nuwara Deviyo!!!???

    Andare Tuesday, 18 July 2023 12:09 PM

IF THE COMMITTEE DECIDES THAT SOME OF THE DRUGS IMPORTED ARE FAKE OR ARE NOT SUITABLE, (a) Who is answerable for the loss incurred , including the foreign exchange (b) how will the Commissions earned by the Crooks be refunded to the Suppliers of the condemned drugs ?

    Sinna Tuesday, 18 July 2023 03:34 PM

We should praise our health minister for appointing committee to investigate the issue, reminding me the commission appointed by RW during Yahapalanaya regime comprising UNP lawyers from Srikotha to investigate central bank scam,as expected they found no wrong was happened

Gunawathie Hambanthota Saturday, 05 August 2023 12:51 PM

At the end of the day, nothing will happen! First sack the Health Minister and his deputy - otherwise wasting of their golden time and public funds!
