Colombo, May 15 (Daily Mirror) - In the wake of the recent mass withdrawal of AstraZeneca vaccines due to concerns over rare blood clots, Sri Lanka health experts emphasized that individuals who have received the AstraZeneca vaccine need not harbour undue fears regarding its safety.

Addressing the media, Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama, Chairman of the National Medicinal Drugs Regulatory Authority, referenced a case in which the manufacturer of AstraZeneca acknowledged that complications from the vaccine are exceedingly rare, a fact they had previously admitted.

He underscored that these rare complications are not indicative of future adverse effects, providing reassurance on the overall safety profile of the vaccine.

I had 2 of AstraZeneca and a Pfizer booster, So far my health is good, no any symptoms has been shown, So people who had AstraZeneca no need to panic, the result may differ person to person according to their health condition.

This is that ' doctor -hating jealous king'. People should fear unhealthy eating habits, alcohol, sedentary life with no exercise(150 mins /week with moderate ex), but not astrazeneca. Bad habits, bad outcome being attributed to a vaccine that saved millions of people including foolish

So you tell us that this vaccine is far better than the substandard medicine you guys have imported?

    mnsmart Wednesday, 15 May 2024 02:18 PM

It is too late to panic. The COVID-19 vaccines produced by Pfizer–BioNTech and Moderna are based on the mRNA technology and thus safe. The very first vaccine to be approved in the US was the Moderna vaccine. Japan procured a large stock of AstraZeneca, but did not use due to reported health complications. In Sri Lanka we bought the AstraZeneca vaccine at a high cost padded with kick backs. It is the fault of Gota who handed over management of COVID-19 pandemic to a OL educated solder. That is it.

In one Class Action the plaintiffs allege manufacturer AstraZeneca did not properly test the drugs for side effects. Additionally, the drug manufacturer didn't appropriately warn doctors and consumers of the potential health risks. One action was settled for $20 Million. Manufacturer statement that complications are extremely rare cannot be accepted
