Mount Lavinia Hotel welcomed 2025 with an extraordinary New Year’s Eve celebration, captivating over 500 guests with its dazzling Moulin Rouge-themed extravaganza, Moulin Rouge: Une Nuit à Paris. Inspired by the glitz and glamour of Parisian nightlife, the hotel’s iconic terrace was transformed into a vibrant scene straight out of Montmartre, complete with red-hued lighting, enchanting can-can dancers, and a charismatic mix of English and French comperes. 

The evening began with an air of anticipation, and as the clock struck midnight, the Colombo skyline exploded in a breath-taking 20–30-minute fireworks display. Guests were spellbound as the sky above the hotel came alive with vibrant colours, providing an exclusive show that set the tone for a magical night. 

The culinary offerings were equally spectacular, featuring a specially curated dinner and dessert buffet that showcased an impressive variety of flavours. Each dish was a testament to the hotel’s dedication to excellence, ensuring a feast that delighted every palate. 

Music was at the heart of the celebration, with Kevin Almeida and his band, X-it, setting the mood with electrifying performances. DJ Kosala and Breeze Jazz followed, keeping the dance floor alive with a mix of contemporary and classic tunes that resonated with the diverse audience.

Last year, we transported them to Copacabana; this year, we brought them to the heart of Paris. The combination of the theme, a spectacular fireworks display, exquisite cuisine, and vibrant music created a night to remember.”
