Anjala Bandara who was unbeaten on 126 on day one went on to add a further 37 runs to make a top score of 163 and with Nisala Abeyratne put on a 142 runs stand for the ninth wicket to help the Sri Lanka Emerging XI end with a score of 356 runs on day two of the first unofficial Test at Sooriyawewa yesterday.
Abeyratne was unfortunate to miss out on a half century, out for 48.
West Indies Emerging XI in their turn was given a sedate start of 42 runs by openers Mbeki Joseph and Damel Evelyn who shared 42 runs for the second with Mavendra Dindyal.
Dindyal made a knock of 60 with six boundaries before becoming the fourth West Indies Emerging team wicket to fall.
From there on skipper Rivaldo Clarke and Shaqkere Parris took over and the pair denied the host side bowlers success as they succeeded to pile up runs at will.
The pair posted their 100 runs partnership but having added another 15 runs they were separated with the dismissal of Parris who made 55 which had three boundaries.
Skipper Clarke who remained unbeaten on 72 which had seven boundaries and a six held on till stumps with Amari Goodridge as the West Indies Emerging XIs ended day two on 273 for 5.
