Sri Lanka's national selectors, led by Pramodya Wickramasinghe, have invited the senior players who have either been dropped or rested for the forthcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh for a meeting, it is learnt.

According to highly placed sources in SLC board office, the selectors have decided to explain to them the reasons for dropping or resting them.

They are also likely to explain to them how the think tank is considering preparing future teams and what the strategy means for them.

The six seniors who are invited to the SLC headquarters are Dimuth Karunratne, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Nuwan Pradeep, Roshen Silva and Dilruwan Perera.

"The selectors also want to hear from them about their future plans and what they think about contributing to make the team world class", the source, privy to the development, said.

The selectors had also invited Thisara Perera but as he has already announced his retirement, he is unlikely to be present in the meeting.

The Head coach Mickey Arthur may not be there in the meeting, but he has already spoken to a few seniors, it is learnt.

yes it is important to look to the future but kill off five or six best players ever produced by sl in their prime is a foolhardy act The government should intervene and sack all the selectors and send them to a mental asylum

... but the mental asylum is full of Covid-19 patients.

Not only the present senior or junior players we have, we should have a good selecting panel unless selectors' credentials are not an important factor at all. Going through selectors' records / performances it is questionable if it is the best selecting panel available in Srilanka ??
