Former national captain Kusal Janith Perera is yet to join the 22-member Sri Lanka squad selected for the limited over matches.
Last month he tested positive for Covid-19 and was asked to isolate.
"He has been cleared by Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the Chairman of the Medical Panel of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and therefore was included in the squads but as he has not been training. He is "most likely" to be out of the ODI matches and will be considered to play the T-20Is", a source said.
Sri Lankan players who have been selected to play the white ball matches (3 ODIs and three T-20Is) against South Africa had their first night training session on Tuesday, it is learnt here.
"Yes, this was their first night training session and they trained between 8 pm and 10 pm at the R. Premadasa Stadium,” the source also said.
The last training session before the first scheduled match (September 2) will be on Wednesday between 5 to 7 pm.
