The Greenlands winning team
A quick-fire 49 not out by Nuwan Hettiarachchi with five fours and a six in 30 balls steered Greenlands CC to a thrilling six-wicket victory against Colombo Friends Veterans in a T/20 Masters cricket encounter reduced to 16 overs at the Army ground, Mattegoda.
Colombo Friends openers Eranga Dewapura and Prabath Jayawardena steadied the innings with an opening stand of 66 runs. Eranga Dewapura was the first batter to be dismissed after which Jayawardena played a star studded innings scoring a half century including five fours and three sixes in 35 balls.
Colombo Friends Veterans managed to post 121 runs with Samitha Abeygunawardena being the pick of the bowlers for Greenlands CC.
Greenlands CC in reply, lost three early wickets for 62 runs before Amila de Silva joining the other opener Nuwan Hettiarachchi associated in a solid partnership of 53 runs for the fourth wicket which took them past the 100-run mark.
