The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) claims it will allocate Rs. 60 million with immediate effect to support domestic tournaments this year across its 60 affiliated football leagues.
According to the FFSL, as a first step, a grant of Rs. 500,000 was awarded to each football league during its annual Ordinary Congress 2026 held recently in Nuwara Eliya.
FFSL said that with the presentation of the funds, the long-awaited FA Cup tournament, which has not been held for the past four years, is expected to be revived.
In addition, the FFSL said its Next Chapter Program 2026, will provide selected football leagues with financial assistance of Rs. 50,000 each to support the operations of their office secretariats.
According to the FFSL, the initiative is aimed at strengthening grassroots football administration and enhancing the development of domestic football throughout Sri Lanka.
