The curtain in the U-17 Sri Lanka Youth League (SLYL) limited overs tournament will come down today with the final clash for supremacy and the title at the Galle Stadium.
The two teams booked their final berths after rain hampered semifinal encounters with only one match producing a result as Colombo North U17 overcame Kandy U17 by 71 runs on the DLS method to make it to the final.
The other semifinal was washed out due to rain which made Colombo South U17 qualify by virtue of having finished second in the points table.
From the looks of it a closely contested affair is on the cards. Colombo North U17 will be seeking for a repeat of their three wicket win against Colombo South U17 who had their unbeaten record tarnished with this defeat.
Thus Colombo South U17 will take the field with the aim of seeking vengeance.
The two teams poses talented young players with Colombo South led by Rehan Peiris who will bank on Himaru Deshan who is the top scorer of the side, Stevon Peiris, Hirun Matheesha , Thevindu Wewalwala and Rusandu Silva to name a few in the batting department while the bowling will be in the hands of Rusandu Silva, Gimhan Mendis and Himaru Deshan.
Colombo North led by Lithum Senuja will depend on top scorer Kavith de Silva, Kaushshika Tilekeratne, Sanul Weeraratne and Shaveen Perera to propel the batting and the bowling quartet of Minuga Nethsara, Shaveen Perera, Savindu Sathsara and Lahiru Lakmal will have a crucial part to play.
