The final of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup Under-17 boys tournament 2025 will be worked off today (27) at 6.00 pm at the Race Course Ground in Colombo between India and Bangladesh.
According to tournament records, India, the regional powerhouse, has already won the title on six previous occasions, while Bangladesh, considered the surprise package of this year’s event, will look to pose a strong challenge for the coveted crown.
Football enthusiasts expect a fierce contest as both teams have reached the final unbeaten. The last edition of the tournament in 2024 also featured the same two finalists, where India overcame Bangladesh 2-0 to claim the championship.
In the group stage, Bangladesh, representing Group ‘A’, defeated Nepal (4-0) and Sri Lanka (4-0) before overcoming Pakistan 2-0 in the semifinal to book their spot in the final.
India, playing in Group ‘B’, recorded victories against the Maldives (6-0), Bhutan (1-0) and Pakistan (3-2), and then outclassed Nepal 3-0 in the semifinal to secure their berth in the grand finale. This marks the second time Bangladesh has reached the final of an Under-17 boys tournament, making today’s encounter a significant milestone for the team.
Adding to the excitement, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), as the host nation, has provided free entry to all matches to encourage young football fans and support the rising talent of South Asia.
