Colombo, Dec. 12 (Daily Mirror) - Football Srilanka (FSL) is to build an International Level New Football Complex near Colombo.

Two suitable lands have already been proposed and with the intervention of Minister of Sports Harin Fernando, the suitable land will be selected, says FSL President Umar Jasver.

Apart from Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo and Racecourse Colombo, there is no International Level Football Stadium in the vicinity of Colombo.

Since other sports are also held in the two stadiums providing serious obstacles to conduct football matches and training, following representations made to the sports minister an agreement has been reached to allocate land.

FIFA has also agreed to provide related financial assistance for the construction of the football complex during the discussion held with the Sports Minister during a recent visit to Sri Lanka.

Since Sri Lanka is billed to host the 2025 SAFF 15th Edition, FSL says they will go all out to build a new football complex.

Don't build everything in Colombo. Colombo is already too congested.

Dear Minister Mr. Harin Fernando, With a sense of urgency and concern for the future, I pen down this opinion. The persisting cart-before-the-horse system culture in Sri Lanka, exemplified by questionable proposals, demands our immediate attention, and this culture must end. Your proposal to build an international-level football complex seems to be a misplaced focus. It prompts me as a citizen to question: What kind of unwise direction are you heading in? Instead of addressing the fundamental needs of our nation, it should be building an international-level football team first, and thereafter the complex and not the other way around. Is this not the long-standing irrational political culture in our country, where the cart is always put before the horse? It is crucial to prioritize initiatives that truly resonate with the needs of the people in one of the worst economic crises we have ever faced. Continued next comment..

is crucial to prioritize initiatives that truly resonate with the needs of the people in one of the worst economic crises we have ever faced. People are struggling to survive, any decision should not supersede addressing the pressing issues faced by our citizens today. The insensitive attitude towards the people cannot be ignored any longer. Testing the forbearance of the common man is a risky endeavor. The repercussions from their wrath could be formidable. As representatives of the people, there is a responsibility to listen and respond to the genuine concerns of the citizens. It is time for a paradigm shift in our political culture. You need to prioritize initiatives that directly benefit the well-being of our people. Minister Mr. HARIN FERNANDO, promote positive changes, reform, and contribute to building a more responsive and compassionate political landscape in Sri Lanka
