Simmering fan dissatisfaction exploded in the Pallekele cricket grounds on Sunday night -- certainly it was not a pleasant thing to see. The India-Sri Lanka third ODI was disrupted by bottle-tossing cricket fans for more than 30 minutes and riot police were called in, when India was just eight runs needed to win in 40 balls. The match resumed later and India won by six wickets.

Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to beef up security for the remainder of the series after spectators’ trouble at the third ODI in Pallekele on Sunday. Angry spectators threw objects to the grounds forcing match referee Andy Pycroft to stop play for over half an hour. Match was resumed after 32 minutes when the spectators on grass stand were removed by the riot police who were called to control the situation.
