India advanced to the final of the Women’s ODI Tri-Series Tournament with a close 23-run win over South Africa in a high-scoring match played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday.

Sri Lanka are now assured of the second final spot even though they are down to play their last match against South Africa, which will be of academic interest.

India taking first lease of the wicket posted a formidable 337 for nine, which came on the back of a quick-fire 101-ball 123 by Jemimah Rodrigues.

Jemimah added 88 for the fourth wicket with Smriti Mandhana and put on 122 for the fifth wicket with Deepti Sharma

South Africa Women in their run chase were able to muster a score of only 314 despite two fine knocks coming from Annerie Dercksen (81) and Chloe Tryon (67).

Sri Lanka, who have two wins under their belt, will play against South Africa on May 9 and will clash in the final against India on May 11.
