Western and North Western Stars Shine in NSF Wrestling Championship

Tarindu Dakshitha from the Western Province and Priyanka Kumari from the North Western Province were crowned the best male and female wrestlers respectively at the Inter-Provincial Wrestling Championship at the 49th National Sports Festival (NSF).
The tournament, which had the participation of over 200 athletes representing all nine provinces, took place at the Indoor Sports Complex of the University of Kelaniya. 
Organised under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and the Department of Sports Development, the championship highlighted the country’s growing talent pool in the sport of wrestling.
Dakshitha was the best male performer in the 57kg weight class showcasing impressive skill and strength to outclass his opponents. 
In the women’s segment, Priyanka Kumari clinched the best female wrestler award after a dominant display in the 65kg weight category.
The Western Province emerged overall champions in wrestling, collecting an impressive 10 gold, three silver and seven bronze medals while the North Western Province secured the overall runner-up title with six gold, four silver, and one bronze medal. Central Province claimed third place with three gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
