The Federation of Motorcycle Sports in Sri Lanka (FMSSL), the governing body for the nation’s motorcycle racing activities since its inception in 1997, has appointed its new office bearers following the recent election.
Sudath Weerasinghe was elected as the 13th President of the FMSSL on August 4, 2025, succeeding a long line of leaders who have guided the sport over nearly three decades. He will serve a two-year term, during which he has pledged to elevate the standards of the sport and create greater opportunities for riders.
Weerasinghe, who has been actively involved in motorcycle racing since 1989 and competed continuously until 2012, expressed his vision clearly: “My goal is to take our riders and female competitors to the next level during my tenure. We have the talent — it’s time to give them the platform and support to excel at the highest levels.”
The newly elected Vice Presidents are Milan Niranjan and Indika Gurusinghe, while Malinda Karangoda takes over as Secretary and Hashan Illeperuma as Assistant Secretary. Sashini Ranasinghe was appointed Assistant Treasurer.
Other committee members include Buddhika Jayalal, Ranjith Samarawira, Chaminda Subasinghe, Sandamal Ranawira, Sanjeewa Perera, and Himash Padberiya.
The FMSSL remains committed to advancing motorcycle sports in Sri Lanka by improving infrastructure, increasing participation, and ensuring that riders are competitive on both local and international circuits.
