Vijitha takes charge on opening day of ranking golf

The National Ranking Golf Tournament teed off at Rajawella with Vijitha Bandara taking charge on day one after an impressive round of 71. His composed approach and precise putting earned him the early advantage in a closely contested field.

Experienced campaigner Chanaka Perera followed in second place with a solid 73, displaying his trademark consistency but leaving room to improve on the greens in the coming rounds.

In third was Kumar Dhanushan, who carded a 74, keeping himself well within reach of the leaders as the top scorers stayed closely competitive. 

Young talent Kaya Daluwatte, the country’s top girls’ junior golfer, continued her form with a 75 for fourth place, while veteran Priya Hemantha posted 76 to complete the top five.

Jacob Norton finished sixth while Uchitha Ranasinghe, Chalitha Pushpika and Reshan Algama shared seventh place.
