Trinity recorded a comfortable first innings win over St. Thomas’ Matara in the Under-19 inter-school cricket encounter at Wellassa.
Pulisha Karunaratne cracked a superb century for Trinity. His knock of 143 contained 16 fours and he associated in three partnerships of 67 for the second wicket with Aadham Hilmy, 50 for the third wicket with Rajindu Tilekeratne and 145 for the fourth wicket with Vathila Udara. Trinity ended day one on 333 for seven and resuming on day two, added a further 25 runs to make a formidable 358.
St. Thomas’ in reply lost their top five wickets with just 57 runs on the board. They never recovered as they succumbed to the pair Malith Ratnayake and Sweath Amarajeewa to be bundled out for 109.
St. Thomas’ made to follow on made 48 for two before stumps were drawn.
